The incident took place during the second T20I in Sydney.
Mutual respect MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have for each other is well known to all. In the countryside, the current Indian boss used to blindly implement what Dhoni used to say. But since India’s heartbreaking exit from the 2019 World Cup in the semi-final, the veteran goalkeeper did not play the game and ultimately retired from international cricket on August 15 earlier this year.
Although MS Dhoni returned to the field in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), fans miss him in the blue jersey. And even the Indian captain Virat Kohli misses him on the field now. Fans used to enjoy the camaraderie between the duo during Dhoni’s game days and Kohli himself used to get suggestions from him during crucial moments of the game.
However, he now has to make decisions himself and seems to miss his best friend on the field a lot. One such incident took place during the second T20I between India and Australia, confirming that Virat Kohli is indeed losing MS Dhoni’s presence in the field.
Virat Kohli’s gesture after looking at the banner
The crowds have finally returned for the matches in Australia and with him, the emotion has returned. After India won the toss and opted to field, Virat Kohli fielded deep during one of the overs. Right behind him in the stands, a section of fans had made a sign that read: ‘We Miss You Dhoni’.
The 32-year-old looked at him and gestured to fans that he, too, missed MS Dhoni. The video of it has gone viral on social networks and fans are also enjoying it to the fullest.
