The AAP today urged Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to confront Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of engaging in a fight with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who had unleashed his force against farmers marching to Delhi against the three central agricultural laws.

In a statement today, the head of Punjab and Tilak Nagar MLA affairs, Jarnail Singh, alleged that the CM was playing a secondary role to the Union Government rather than supporting farmers in this hour of crisis when they were waging a battle against the Center for its survival.

Jarnail Singh criticized Captain Amarinder Singh and asked him what political compulsions he had to “kneel before the Modi government”. He said the CM should clarify the issue.

Jarnail Singh said the need at the time was for Amarinder Singh to put pressure on Modi to agree to the farmers’ demands as a matter of priority, adding that he had played a “dubious role” in passing the three draconian laws.

He said that if the Captain’s government had been strong enough to resist the implementation of the laws, the Modi government could not have pushed it forward. The Punjab AAP in charge further said that if the NDA government did not back down on repealing the controversial laws, Captain Amarinder should immediately pass a bill to make the minimum support price (MSP) on all crops be a legal right of farmers.
