Congressional leader Anand Sharma lashed out at the Modi government for handling the Covid crisis and raised several questions about Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan’s statement on the issue at Lok Sabha. Sharma questioned the government-imposed blockade and said what preparations had been made before the imposition of a blockade by the center. The congressional deputy also questioned the Health Minister’s claim that the blockade prevented 14 to 29 lakh of Covid cases in the country and up to 78,000 deaths in the country. The congressional leader asked what is the scientific basis for the claims, noting that India had 600 cases on the day Prime Minister Modi announced the pan-India shutdown and now the total number of cases stands at 5 million. The Union Health Minister praised the Prime Minister for declaring a blockade across India.
