the The Andhra Pradesh government established separate corporations for 56 major castes in the Late Classes category. Previously, a single Retrograde Class Corporation satisfied all the requirements of 139 of those castes.
Why has Andhra taken that step?
During YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra before the May 2019 elections, he received several complaints from people belonging to various backward castes that government benefits and schemes were not reaching them properly. The YSRCP leader promised that he would establish separate corporations for Breeds in British Columbia that have a population of over 30,000 so that each corporation can micromanage the people of a particular caste and their needs. These corporations will receive government funds that will be used to deliver the government schemes and benefits to the beneficiaries. Some of the benefits include reimbursement of school fees before and after metrics; financial assistance of Rs 18,750 to women aged 45-60 to encourage them to start small businesses; old age pensions; rations through PDS; and health benefits. Officials say they could better serve communities because each corporation would be responsible for a limited number of beneficiaries.
Were there previously separate corporations for subcastes?
No, this is the first time that separate corporations have been created for various subcastes under Backward Classes. Previously, a BC Welfare Corporation served the needs of the 139 subcastes listed in the backward classes. There were independent caste-based cooperative federations. During the Telugu Desam Party regime, independent caste-based corporations were established for Kapus and Brahmins, but not for sub-castes. With a population of 49.55 per backward class, the YSRCP government felt that separate corporations were needed to manage the sub-castes and ensure that beneficiaries receive all the benefits and schemes announced by the government.

Why have the new corporations been created now? Its duties?
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a promise in the polls that if he voted for power, his government would establish several separate corporations for the welfare of the backward classes. The support of the backward classes, who shifted their allegiance en masse to YSRCP, helped the party win a landslide victory.
After forming his government, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the welfare of the CBs would be a priority for his government and that his government would spend up to Rs 75,000 crore on plans and benefits for the backward classes for five years. The creation of the corporations fulfills the promise of the survey and also empowers backward class leaders by appointing a president and 12 directors for each corporation. The president and the 12 directors would each represent the 13 districts of the state whose job it is to identify the eligible beneficiaries of a particular sub-caste under a corporation and ensure that welfare is directed to them.
