Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a video conference with the heads of all the states and territories of the Union to discuss their preparation on Covid-19 vaccination program in India, which is expected to take place early next year, and also solicited your suggestions on its priority beneficiaries. During the conference, it was reported that the government is using eVIN – Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to identify the main beneficiaries and the vaccine distribution networks.

What is eVIN?

Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network is a homegrown technology that digitizes vaccine stocks and monitors cold chain temperature through a smartphone app. The innovative eVIN was first launched in 12 states in 2015 to support better management of vaccine logistics at points in the cold chain. eVIN supports the central government’s Universal Immunization Program by providing real-time information on vaccine stocks and flows, and storage temperatures at all points of the cold chain in the states and UT.

Who will guide the introduction of the vaccine in all states / UT?

The Center has begun its preparations for the introduction of the Covid-19 vaccine and a National Group of Experts on Administration of Vaccines for Covid-19 (NEGVAC) has been formed as the highest group that will guide the strategies for the introduction of the vaccine. . “Initially, the vaccine supply is expected to be limited in view of the huge demand. What is the stage of preparations in Haryana?

“Instructions from the Government of India regarding the Covid Vaccine Recipient Management System (CVBMS) have been distributed in the 22 districts of Haryana. Orientation for civil surgeons, district information officers, developmental monitoring and evaluation officers (DMEOs), and IT assistants has been conducted at CVBMS. Semi-official letters have been sent to all deputy commissioners. UNDP has mapped 100% of the sites, 21,085 session sites. The purpose of the session sites is to track Covid-19 beneficiaries in real time. A total of 5,145 trained vaccinators (ANMs) have been identified for Covid-19 vaccination purposes in Haryana. Furthermore, the nursing staff and pharmacists will also be subject according to the requirements, ”said Haryana’s additional chief secretary (health), Rajeev Arora.

How many main beneficiaries are identified in Haryana?

There are about 97,000 health workers in the health department, including the women’s and child development department. In addition to this, there are health workers from the department of medical education, Ayush and ESI. What about the working groups?

Haryana has already formed a steering committee and a working group for the vaccination program. Meetings of the two committees headed by the Chief Secretary of State and the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) are scheduled for next week. District Task Force meetings have already been completed for 17 districts, while the remaining five districts will complete meetings soon.

What is the state’s readiness for cold chain spaces?

Username and passwords have been successfully created for all state and district administrators, which is necessary to conduct mock storage readiness sessions. Haryana has a state vaccine store (SVS), four regional stores and 22 district vaccine stores, in addition to 659 cold chain points. Additional cold chain equipment, such as ice-lined freezers and refrigerators, has been allocated from the Center. Guidelines for the creation of additional spaces for dry livestock and cold chain spaces have already been issued to all districts.
