Xiaomi is holding a launch event after a long pause, thanks to the coronavirus crash. The company plans to launch many exciting devices to meet the demand that has been suppressed in recent months. The tech company is expected to release at least three new devices today. The virtual launch event will begin at 12 p.m. and will be streamed live on the company’s official website, community website, and other social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
The main launch will be the Mi 10, which was initially planned to launch in March. Xiaomi has released the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and recently revealed the Mi 10 Lite in other countries, but it seems that the company will only stay on the Mi 10 for the moment in India.
The biggest USP on the Mi 10 is a 108MP primary lens in a quad camera setup. So much so that the company calls it the 108MP phone in promotions. In addition to the 108MP lens, the device has a 13MP wide-angle lens sensor and a pair of 2MP sensors for portrait and macro shots. The front camera is a 20MP unit and is housed in a hole drilled in the screen.
The device features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a FullHD + resolution that also has curved edges. The screen gets a higher 90Hz refresh rate.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 powers the device. Xiaomi has offered up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage in China. For now, we can’t be sure if Xiaomi India will launch all variants of the device in India. The device also has 5G connectivity.
When it comes to pricing, the company is expected to fetch a higher price for high-end specs. An important factor to keep in mind is that the device will be imported directly. The depreciation value of the rupee, as well as a 50% higher GST, will also influence the price of the device. In China, the device is priced at CNY 3,999 (approximately ₹42,650). However, Xiaomi will provide some deals with the device that includes a free power bank. ₹2,499 only for those who book the device from 2 p.m. today until 11:59 p.m. May 17.
Along with the Mi 10, Xiaomi will also launch new wireless headphones and even Mi Box, a rival to Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Google’s Chromecast.
