The gas smoke was reported to have leaked again from a tanker truck where styrene leaked in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, ANI news agency reported.
“About 50 firefighters, with the support of NDRF, are conducting operations. We have ordered the evacuation of the villages within a radius of 2-3 km for safe secondary precautions, “said Visakhapatnam District Fire Officer Sandeep Anand.
He added that ten more fire bids were present at the scene, including two foam bids, while ambulances were kept ready for any emergency.
The nightly reports come after an early chemical gas leak in the LG Polymers industry in the village of Visakhapatnam, in RR Venkatapuram, which claimed 11 lives, while hundreds were admitted to hospitals for treatment, and thousands were reported sick.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced Rs 1 crore each as compensation to the relatives of the deceased. Those undergoing ventilator treatment would receive Rs 10 lakh each, while others who are hospitalized but not ventilated would receive Rs 1 lakh each as compensation.
