Exclusive – Asif Basra Suicide: Emraan Hashmi Says: “You can never know everything about a person” | Hindi Movie News

Emraan Hashmi shared screen space with Asif Basra, who committed suicide yesterday. The 53-year-old actor was found hanging at his home in Himachal Pradesh. Speaking to ETimes tonight, Emraan said: “I am extremely shocked. We have lost so many actors this year. Add this to the various miseries that 2020 has brought. What a painful year!”

Emraan recalls Asif seemed like a very positive person who was very easy to follow, when they worked together on the Ekta Kapoor production ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ (2010), directed by Milan Luthria. “I had kept in touch with Asif via text messages after the movie and then we met a couple of times. I continued his work. He was a very good actor. I loved him in ‘Hichki’ and ‘Paatal Lok. scene I filmed with him and Randeep Hooda for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ on Yari Road. It was a shot in jail. ”

Emraan adds: “Asif had a very cheerful disposition, he was a very laid back guy. He had a very captivating face. You could see that he was a good person.”

However, Emraan says that he is not aware of the backstory in Asif’s life and therefore would not comment on what could have led Asif to take such a drastic step. “You cannot know how people react to things and what has actually happened. You can never know everything about a person, no matter how close they are to them.”
