NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education said on Friday that the 2021 Class X and XII Board exams and other competitive tests would be held after due consultation with students, parents and teachers in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said: “Taking exams is no less than a challenge. Despite the uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is crucial to take board exams, as well as entrance exams for admission to higher education institutions. “I will have an interaction with parents, students and teachers in this regard and the exams will only take place based on the result of the interaction.”
The minister said he would interact with students online on December 3 to discuss the upcoming Board and competitive exams.
The minister’s remarks came after a high-level review meeting on Thursday decided to hold broader consultations with students, parents and teachers about conducting the exams next year in times of a pandemic.
“A campaign will be launched to seek input from students, parents and teachers on how and when to take the exams next year,” the ministry said in a statement.
Schools and universities were closed in March due to the pandemic. Competitive exams like JEE and NEET-UG were postponed twice this year due to the pandemic, while the board exams were canceled midway and the results were announced based on an alternate evaluation scheme.
