Thanksgiving Increase Latest News for State Government Employees: As expected, some states have started announcing the DA increase freeze for their employees, just as the Central Government did last week. While the Center’s decision came Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh government issued an order Saturday to suspend new DA hikes for state employees, teachers and pensioners in light of falling state revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the official order of the UP government, the increase in DA allocation would be suspended between January 2020 and June 2021. This decision will affect more than 16 lakh of Uttar Pradesh government employees and officials, around 3 lakh of teachers and 12 lakh, pensioners. However, DA would continue to be paid in UP at the rates established on July 1, 2019.

In addition to DA, the UP government also suspended six other allocations until March 31, 2021. These are compensatory city allocations; secretariat grant; special payment for police officers in the Crime Division, CB-CID, Economic Crime Wing, surveillance department and special investigation branch; research grant and design grant for officials and employees of the Department of Public Works (PWD); and the I&P subsidy paid to irrigation officers and employees, IE reported.
Freezing of esteem allowance in Tamil Nadu
On Monday, the Tamil Nadu government also announced the freezing of the loving allowance (DA) to state government employees and pensioners at current rates until July 2021. This order will also apply to teaching and non-teaching staff who work in assisted educational institutions, employees under local organizations and employees governed by UGC, among others.

Freeze Estimate frozen in Maharashtra
After the central government and the government of Uttar Pradesh, it is reported that the Maharashtra government is also going to freeze the increased esteem allocation for its employees. However, no official notification has yet been issued in this regard. Maharashtra is the state most affected by Coronavirus with more than 7000 cases to date.
On Thursday of last week, the central government had announced the decision to freeze the staff subsidy increases for central government staff and the staff relief for central government pensioners for the period from January 2020 to July 2021.
