EPFO extends the deadline for pensioners to present a Life Certificate until February 28, 2021


With the pandemic in mind, the EPFO ​​on Saturday extended the time limit for retirees to February 28, 2021 for the presentation of Jeevan Pramaan Patra. The measure will benefit 35 lakh retirees, the Labor and Employment Ministry said.

“In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the vulnerability of the elderly population to the Corona Virus, EPFO ​​has extended the deadline until February 28, 2021 for the presentation of the Certificate of Life (Jeevan Pramaan Patra-JPP ) regarding the retirement pension, under EPS 1995 and whose life certificate expires in any month until February 28, 2021, “the ministry said in an official statement.

Currently, a pensioner can file JPP at any time during the year until November 30, which is valid for a period of one year from the issuance date. All these pensioners can present a Life Certificate until February 28, 2021.

“Multiple JPP presentation modes, including 3.65 lakh Common Service Centers (CSC), Pension Disbursement Bank Branches, 1.36 lakh Post Offices, 1 Lakh Postman Postal Network , 90 lakh and the Grameen Dak Sevaks from the Post Office can be used by pensioners. ” said the ministry.

Pensioners can use the link to locate the nearest CSCs and the link to make online requests to post offices for JPP filing from the comfort of their home or elsewhere.

During this extended period, the pension will not stop regarding 35 lakh retirees who were unable to file JPP during November 2020.

Recently, the retirement fund body has provided multiple options for the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) submission.

All pensioners under EPS-95 (Employee Pension Plan-1995) must present Jeevan Pramaan Patra (JPP) / Digital Life Certificate (DLC) every year to continue receiving the pension.

In the current COVID-19 scenario, the Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has provided multiple options for EPS-95 retirees to present their DLC near their home or on their doorstep, the ministry said. it’s a statement.

JPPs submitted through all these modes / agencies are equally valid, he added.

In addition to the 135 regional offices and 117 district offices of the EPFO, EPS-95 pensioners can now present DLC at the branch of the bank that pays the pensions and at the nearest post offices.

The DLC can also be sent to a 3.65 lakh national network of Common Service Centers (CSCs). EPS-95 retirees can also submit DLC using the UMANG app.

Recently, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) launched a DLC service at home for retirees.

Retirees can now submit an online request to use DLC at home for a nominal fee.
