Eoin Morgan reacts by hitting at No. 6 against the Delhi Capitals

The decision of the Kolkata Knight Riders team management to send in a fit Eoin Morgan in number six during the match against Delhi Capitals was a bit puzzling. In a game where the team was chasing an unlikely 229, sending one of the best T20 hitters in the world so late didn’t seem like the best decision.

In the end, Kolkata Knight Riders ended up losing the game by 18 runs despite Eoin Morgan giving his best with the bat. The England captain threw 44 of just 18 balls with the help of a four and five sixes before starting in 19th. His firing almost wiped out KKR’s hopes as they finally finished 210-for-8 to suffer their second loss of the current season.

Eoin Morgan hitting at number six might have surprised many, but as far as he’s concerned, he made it clear that he wasn’t disappointed with it. Speaking at the post-match press conference, the England captain said the others had to change after the Andre Russell off-roader was promoted.

“No I dont think so. When you look at the batting lineup, there are a number of game winners in that lineup. “ Eoin Morgan said in response to whether he should have come to hit earlier.

“It’s very difficult to move up the order, particularly (when you have) world-class hitter, all-rounder Andre Russell. He is an incredible forward of the ball. When the order goes up, everyone goes down a bit. ” added.

The move to promote Russell also didn’t work out, as the hard-hitting off-roader was out by just 13. Captain Dinesh Karthik, who came out at number five, was also unable to return to form as he started for just 6 before Eoin Morgan and Rahul Tripathi revived KKR’s hopes for a time.
