In subway stations
Initially, passengers will be allowed to enter / exit only through one or two identified gates at each station. The list of all assigned gate numbers at each station is available on the Delhi Metro website and on the DMRC official social media (Twitter and Facebook – @ officialDMRC) for public information.
The use of a mask will be mandatory for all travelers during the entrance to the stations / trains and throughout the trip.
The use of the ‘Aarogya Setu App’ is recommended to update the health status of passengers.
All passengers must undergo a heat check and hand disinfection at the point of entry / registration. Thermal screening will be done manually using ‘Heat Guns’.
Passengers who have a temperature or signs of Covid-19 will not be able to travel. They will be instructed to report to the nearest medical center.
At the station, passengers will be required to follow social distancing for which stripe markers have been provided at search points, customer service, AFC gates, etc. Likewise, posters are also placed on the platforms to ensure the social distancing of passengers.
Only 2 to 3 people will be allowed to use the elevator at a time, depending on the capacity of the elevator. Similarly, riders will need to stand on alternate steps on escalators to maintain social distancing.
Regular announcements will be made within the stations, reinforcing the need to follow a new travel protocol to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Dos and Dont guidelines in view of Covid-19 have been prominently displayed at all Metro stations and short audiovisual awareness films will also be broadcast via LED screens available at prominent Metro stations.
A team of around 800 officers / staff will be deployed to all stations to ensure cleanliness and order within the stations during check-in hours. In addition, they will regulate / stop the entrance of passengers to the station in case of accumulation of people and violation of the rules of social distancing.
For crowd management, monitoring will also be done through CCTV cameras installed in stations / trains.
Divyangjan passengers will be facilitated by trained customer facilitation agents who will ensure proper social distancing and disinfection.
Inside the subway trains
Passengers will be allowed to sit in alternate seats only on the train or at the stop, maintaining adequate social distancing.
‘Don’t sit here’ stickers have been placed on alternate seats to maintain social distancing within the train.
The stopping time for trains at each station will be increased by 10 seconds (from the first 10-15 seconds to 20-25 seconds) so that passengers have enough time to board and get off.
At interchange stations, the stopping time of trains will increase by 20 seconds (from the first 35-40 seconds to 55-60 seconds).
Pre-recorded audiovisual announcements about social distancing and the use of masks will be made on all trains.
Trains will be disinfected at terminal stations. Similarly, once they return to the reservoirs after the end of the day, they will again be fully disinfected.
Train doors will be kept open at terminal stations to allow fresh air to enter the train.
Ticket sales system
Tokens will not be allowed to travel to prevent virus transmission through frequent contact / handling. Only smart card holders (including QR code users on Airport Express Line) will be able to travel, which can be digitally recharged in various ways, easily avoiding the human interface.
Smart card recharging at Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) OR Customer Service Center will be done only via cashless modes (debit / credit / Bharat QR code etc). TVMs will not accept cash.
The new Smarts cards can be purchased from customer service centers or ticket counters via cashless modes (Bharat debit / credit card / QR code) only.
For the resolution of complaints, passengers will be encouraged to record their comments through digital means (email, social media, helpline, etc.) only.
The passenger complaint book at the stations will be suspended for the time being.
Others
To ensure compliance with the new travel protocol at the stations / trains, the public is advised to take an additional time of around 10-15 minutes for their daily commute.
Passenger hand sanitizers will not be allowed beyond 30 ml. The public is advised to carry only pocket hand sanitizers, if any, with them during the trip.
It is also advisable to travel with a minimum of luggage and avoid carrying metal objects.
The parking lot will continue to operate.
Feeder bus services will remain suspended until further notice.
The points of sale / stores within the Metro stations will be allowed to operate in accordance with current government guidelines and subject to compliance with social distancing regulations.
