Suresh Raina has perhaps dropped the biggest clue yet as his days with Chennai Super Kings have come to an end. The cracks appeared last month when he sensationally withdrew from IPL 2020 and returned to India from the United Arab Emirates. While he did not reveal the reason for his decision, he claimed that it was personal.
The franchise also did not reveal the main reason behind the departure, although reports suggested that Suresh Raina was unhappy with the space they gave her. There were also reports of a rift between her and Captain MS Dhoni. Things escalated further when CSK owner N Srinivasan expressed disappointment at Suresh Raina’s decision and hinted that all was not well within the camp.
“The season has not started yet and Raina will certainly realize what she is missing and certainly all the money that she is going to lose.” Srinivasan had said.
“My thought is that if you are reluctant or unhappy, come back. I don’t force anyone to do anything … sometimes success gets into your head. “ had added.
Later, Suresh Raina had tried to control the damage by saying that Srinivasan did not know the reason for his departure and had also said that he had not yet ruled out the possibility of returning to the United Arab Emirates.
Suresh Raina stops following Chennai Super Kings:
However, it seems like it was all over between Suresh Raina and CSK and that’s pretty much confirmed by the recent hitter activity on Twitter. On Saturday, he unfollowed the franchise’s official Twitter account and, interestingly, the franchise has also unfollowed him.
They are still followed on Instagram though, but recent Twitter activity is sure to surprise. On the same day, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan also ruled out Suresh Raina’s return to the team for the current tournament.
“We cannot look at Raina because she was not available and we respect her decision and her space. We are not thinking about that. “ Viswanathan told ANI.
Suresh Raina was an integral part of the team since 2008, the first season of IPL. He is the best broker of all time in the franchise. In 2018 CSK retained three players before bringing the rest of the team together at the player auction and he was one of them. Dhoni was the first player to be retained at INR 15 crore, Suresh Raina was the second at INR 11 crore and Ravindra Jadeja was the third at INR 7 crore.
But it seems that the highly successful partnership has come to an end now and it can be said that it is very disappointing. As far as CSK is concerned, they are struggling in Raina’s absence and have lost two of the three games at IPL 2020 so far.
