A shooting broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Nagrota area of Jammu and the Jammu district of Kashmir early on Thursday, authorities said.
The shooting started around 5 am near the toll plaza in the Ban de Nagrota area on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. “Around 5 in the morning, some terrorists opened fire on security forces near Ban Toll Plaza in the Nagrota area. They were hiding in a vehicle, ”said Jammu District Police Chief SSP Shridhar Patil.
CRPF spokesman Shivnandan Singh compared the shooting to that of January 31 when a group of terrorists opened fire on a joint group of police and CRPF in Ban Toll Square. “They probably came in a vehicle,” he added.
Initial reports suggest that three to four terrorists are involved in the encounter.
Army troops have also joined the operation, said defense spokesman Lt. Col. Devender Anand.
On January 31, a group of terrorists opened fire on a police team near the Ban toll plaza, triggering a shootout in which three ultras were killed and a policeman wounded.
