Employees can opt for the cash equivalent of LTC, ₹ 10,000 up front


To boost consumer spending during the holiday season, the Delhi government announced on Thursday that its employees can take the cash equivalent of the Leave Travel Grant (LTC) if they opt for it. “Taking into account the difficulties of the employees due to the COVID pandemic and the shutdown, the government made the decision,” Arvind Kejriwal’s government said in a statement. The government said it will also provide a preview of 10,000 in the form of a RuPay card.

“First, in an attempt to boost consumer spending and incentivize its employees, the Delhi government has announced a special cash package in lieu of LTC for Delhi government employees during block 2018-21,” mentioned the official statement.

According to the state government, employees who are entitled to a business class airfare will get 36,000 LTC. Those who are entitled to an airfare in economy class, will receive 20,000. Employees entitled to a train fare of any class will get 6,000 LTC.

“On the other hand, in order to allow public servants to face the expenses related to the holidays and to promote spending by giving a boost to economic activities, in compliance with the decision taken by the government it has been decided that a package Special advance festivals will be awarded to all Delhi government employees for major festivals until March 31, 2021, “the government said.

A quantity of Employees will be paid 10,000 in advance, under the initiative, he said. Employees will receive a Rupay card preloaded with the advanced value.

The special cash package was announced in an attempt to boost consumer spending and incentivize employees, the statement said.

Several Delhi government employees are not in a position to take advantage of the LTC rate to travel anywhere in India or their hometowns in the current 2018-21 block due to disruption in the transport and hospitality sectors caused by the pandemic , He said.

The special festival advance is given to enable government officials to cover festival-related expenses and encourage spending, thus giving a boost to economic activities, he said.

Previously, this advance provision was only available to employees not included in the official gazette. It would now apply to both published and unpublished employees, he said.
