News of the EPS 95 Pension Plan: The possibility of requesting the Certificate of the Plan under EPS, 1995 is now available in the UMANG application.
EPS 1995 Latest News: Provident Fund (PF) subscribers have already been using the UMANG app to get details about their account. The Unified Mobile App for New Age Governance (UMANG) has been a huge hit with EPF subscribers, allowing them to access services during the COVID-19 pandemic from the comfort of their homes and without hassle. In addition to the 16 services already found in the Umang application, EPFO has launched another facility that allows EPS members to apply for the Plan Certificate within the framework of the Employees’ Pension Plan, 1995.
The plan certificate is issued to members who withdraw their contribution to the EPF but wish to retain their membership in the EPFO, to take advantage of the pension benefits upon reaching retirement age. An enrollee is eligible for the pension only if he has been cumulatively enrolled in the 1995 Employees’ Pension Plan for at least 10 years.
When entering a new job, the Scheme Certificate ensures that the previous pensionable service is added to the pensionable service provided with the new employer, thus increasing the amount of pension benefits. In addition, the Certificate of Plan is also useful for family members to benefit from the family pension in the event of premature death of the eligible member.
The ease of requesting the Certificate of Scheme through the UMANG app will now help members avoid the unnecessary difficulties of physically requesting it, especially during times of pandemic, and will also eliminate unnecessary paperwork. The installation will benefit more than 5.89 million subscribers. To take advantage of the service in the Umang app, an active Universal Account Number (UAN) and a mobile phone number registered with the EPFO are required.
By successfully bringing cutting-edge technology to its subscribers’ doorstep, EPFO has remained the most popular service provider in the UMANG application. Of the 47.3 crore recorded by the app since August 2019, 41.6 crore or 88% of it was earmarked for EPFO services. With India experiencing massive growth in digital connectivity via mobile phones, EPFO is making more and more services digitally accessible to members, even in the most remote locations through the UMANG app.
UMANG (Unified Mobile App for New Age Governance) is developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National Division of Electronic Governance (NeGD) to advance Mobile Governance in India. UMANG provides a single platform for all Indian citizens to access e-government services from all over India ranging from central government bodies to local and other citizen-centric services.
