There are no plans to revise existing reserve rules under the new National Education Policy, the Union’s Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said on Monday.
Nishank made the comments in response to a written question in the Lok Sabha about whether the government plans to revise existing reservation rules under the NEP.
“This is not about reviewing the reservation policy,” Nishank said.
The NEP passed by the Union Cabinet in July replaces the 34-year-old National Education Policy framed in 1986 and aims to pave the way for “transformative reforms” in schools and higher education systems to make India a “world superpower of knowledge”. .
