The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has subpoenaed Raninder Singh, son of Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, in connection with their investigation against him for alleged foreign exchange infringements and possession of tax-free foreign assets.
Official sources told IANS here that Raninder was summoned by the agency to its Jalandhar office on Tuesday to explain the alleged movement of funds to Switzerland and the creation of a trust in the tax haven of the British Virgin Islands.
With the Congressional administration led by Amarinder Singh introducing state bills earlier this week to deny core farm laws to pacify agitated farmers in the state, the decision to summon his son takes on significant political significance.
