Echocardiography to monitor Ganguly heart function: Hospital – cricket

The chairman of the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) and former Captain Sourav Ganguly had an “uneventful” night and a follow-up echocardiogram will be performed today to check his heart function, Woodlands Hospital said in its latest medical bulletin.

The medical board will also meet today at 11:30 a.m. to discuss the additional treatment plan with members of his family, Woodlands Hospital said.

The hospital said doctors are “constantly monitoring” Ganguly’s health situation and appropriate measures are being taken from time to time.

The 48-year-old former captain was hospitalized at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with “chest discomfort, heaviness in the head, vomiting and an episode of dizziness” while exercising in the home gym at around 11 a.m. After this, the doctors had performed an angioplasty.

He was tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which turned out to be negative.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also visited Woodlands Hospital on Saturday night and asked about Ganguly’s health.

When interacting with the media while leaving the hospital, the prime minister had said: “He (Ganguly) is fine now, he even spoke to me. I thank the doctors and the hospital authorities for making the right decision to perform an angioplasty ”.

“I had no idea that international athletes like him should not undergo checkups. I asked Avishek Dalmiya to carry out medical check-ups on the cricketers before the games, ”he said.

On Wednesday, Ganguly visited Eden Gardens and discussed preparations for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with the President of the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB), Avishek Dalmiya.
