DxOMark retests iPhone 11 and scores much higher

DxOMark recently changed its test protocol and is now making the fourth version of said protocol. This means that some of the devices deemed relevant will go through the new round of testing because the overall score also changes. Not to mention, software enhancements that manufacturers introduce over time can have a big effect.

DxOMark retests iPhone 11 and scores much higher

Regardless, the iPhone 11 was recently retested and the overall score skyrocketed significantly from 109 to 119 points, outperforming some of the 2020 flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S20 + and OnePlus 8 Pro in the ranking of DxOMark. Although, the Galaxy S20 + has been tested with the above protocol.

The bottom line is that the iPhone 11 is still a capable shooter a year later, offering excellent photo and video quality with little to be desired. Still images offer accurate exposure, good color reproduction, excellent detail even indoors, and ultra-wide camera performance that few can boast. However, DxOMark was not very happy with the quality of the zoom, which is understandable given the lack of a telephoto lens. Ringing artifacts and overexposed flash portraits at night prevent DxOMark from giving the iPhone 11 a higher score.

When it comes to video quality, DxOMark cites the same advantages along with effective stabilization. However, there is a visible jelly effect when recording while walking and indoor scenes alter the white balance and exposure metering.
