The zoya factor Actor Dulquer Salmaan took control of his social media on Sunday to launch an apology after trolls attacked his family in a scene from his recent movie. Varane Avashyamund.

Trolls alleged that the scene is an attack on LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. In response to the allegations, Dulquer wrote that “it was not intentional” and asked users not to “drag our parents and lead actors” into their abusive tweets.

Many people have warned me that the Prabhakaran joke at Varane Avashyamund is insulting to the people of Tamizh. It was not intentional. The joke is a reference to an old malayalam movie, Pattana Pravesham, and is a common meme in Kerala. It is also a common name in Kerala, so it was not addressed to anyone alive or dead, as our disclaimer mentions at the beginning of the film. Most people who react do so without watching the movie and try to spread hate. Hating me and my director Anoop we can accept. Please keep it with us and not with our parents or main actors in the movie. I apologize to all the good and kind Tamizh people who were offended. I never intended to offend anyone through my movies or my words. It really is a misunderstanding.
