DU Announces First Cut List for Undergraduate Courses for 2020-21

New Delhi: The University of Delhi on Saturday released its first cut-off list for merit-based undergraduate admissions for the 2020-21 academic year.

Lady Shri Ram College For Women has set a score of 100% in three courses for general category applicants: BA (Hons) Economics, BA (Hons) Political Science and BA (Hons) Psychology.

The university also has the highest limit among science courses. The university has announced a 99.75 percent limit for admission to B.Sc (Hons) Statistics for general category students, while Hindu College has set the score for the same course at 99.25 percent.

Hindu College has announced a 99.33 percent cut for B.Sc (Hons) Physics.

Among BA program combinations, applicants must score a minimum of 99.25 percent to gain admission for a combination of Economics and Political Science at LSR College, the highest of all combinations.

It was in 2015 that the College of Professional Studies and Indraprastha University for Women set their limit at 100 percent for the general category student computer science program.

Last year, Hindu College had set the highest score of 99 percent in Political Science with honors. LSR College came in second with a 98.75 percent cut for the psychology bachelor’s and honors program.

At 98.3 percent, Hindu College also had the highest limit for Honors in Physics.

About 70,000 undergraduate openings for 65 universities are up for grabs with the admissions process as of October 12. University officials had said the limits would be higher this year as more students scored above 90 percent on board exams.

The new session will begin on November 18.

Varsity officials warned students not to visit colleges for the admissions process, saying no one will be allowed in. This year’s admissions process will be completely online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Students will be able to apply for admission on October 12 starting at 10 am, but the whole process will be online. They should not visit universities or departments, as they will not be allowed to enter,” said a university official.

DU received more than 3.54 lakh of applications this year, the highest yet.

Last month, St Stephen’s College published its first cut-list for undergraduate courses, and the upper limit was announced at 99.25 percent for BA (Hons) Economics.

Since classrooms will be able to accommodate a select number of students due to social distancing rules, the limits will have to be higher, a principal told PTI.
