The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday objected to bail requests filed by actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik in Bombay High Court following their arrest in a drug case linked to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
The anti-drug agency told the court on Tuesday that the investigation has nothing to do with the Rajput’s death and is a case of ‘drug distribution’.
“Throughout the arguments, the applicants claim that this is related to the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, but this investigation has nothing to do with it,” ASG Anil Singh, a lawyer for NCB, told the court, quoted by ANI.
The court is hearing the bail statements filed by Rhea and her brother. On September 8, the NCB arrested Rhea Chakraborty for allegedly purchasing drugs for Sushant. Chakraborty was arrested along with several others.
The anti-drug agency also said that all the people arrested in the case are interconnected with each other and that there were regular links and drug purchases.
“I want to point out that this is a drug union and that they are all interrelated. All the people arrested so far are connected to each other and it is a union. There were regular links and purchases, ”NCB said in court.
The drug business is not limited to Sushant, the NCB told the Bombay High Court. “This is not a case involving Sushant Singh Rajput. He may have been one of the consumers, but the entire transaction and deal is not restricted to him, ”the NCB said.
So far, the NCB has also questioned actors Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh in the drug investigation.
On June 14, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead at his Bandra residence in Mumbai.
In addition to NCB, the case is also being investigated by two other central agencies: the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
