Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday in connection with a drug case. NCB sources said the actor was asked to appear before the agency at 11 a.m. on November 11.
The OCN also raided Rampal’s facilities in Bandra and seized 11 electronic gadgets, including a laptop, mobile phones and tablets from his home.
Some documents from Rampal’s residence were also seized and his driver was taken to the agency’s South Mumbai office for questioning. However, he was allowed to go after a while, an official said.
In early October, the agency had arrested a 30-year-old South African national, brother of Rampal’s partner Gabriella Demetriades, who came forward following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June.
The defendant, Agisilaos Demetriades, was detained at a Lonavala resort. The NCB had said that Demetriades was part of the largest drug syndicate and supplied narcotics to street vendors who were in contact with the actor and Sushant’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her brother Showik.
A special court granted Demtriades bail on October 6, but he was re-arrested in another drug case.
On Sunday, the NCB also arrested the wife of the main Hindi film producer, Firoz Nadiadwala, for allegedly buying ganja from a drug dealer. Nadiadwala also received a subpoena to join the investigation on Monday.
