Two policemen from the special operations group (SOG) were also injured in the exchange of fire with heavily armed terrorists. They have been identified as Kuldeep Raj (32) from Akhnoor in Jammu district and Mohammad Ishaq Malik (40) from Neel Qasim Banihal in Ramban district.
Both have been admitted to GMC Jammu with neck injuries and their condition is said to be stable.
The meeting between terrorists and security forces began around 4.50 am at the Ban toll plaza on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Thursday.
IGP Jammu area Mukesh Singh said the truck was transporting the terrorists to Kashmir.
“It was put under review by the police at the toll plaza because we had intelligence information with us,” he said.
