Players playing in the Dream 11 IPL 2020 will be eliminated from the tournament and their teams will pay a hefty fine of Rs 1 crore if they break the bio-bubble established for the tournament. All participating teams will also face a points deduction if their players break the bio-bubble.
Players could be fined up to AED 3000
In a notification sent to all eight participating franchises by BCCI, a player will have to undergo a six-day quarantine for an “unauthorized exit” from the bubble, according to a PTI report. It will be a one-match suspension if it’s a second offense and a third offense will result in your expulsion from the tournament without being provided a replacement, the notice says.
Players could be fined up to AED 3,000 (roughly INR 60,000) for not completing their daily health passport, not using a GPS tracker, and missing a scheduled COVID-19 test. The same rules apply to family members and team officials. All players and support staff are tested every five days of the tournament in the UAE. Team officials must also take great care to ensure that the strict bio-bubble is not broken.
If a franchise allows “anyone in the bubble to interact with the players / support staff”, they will have to pay a fine of 1 crore rupees on the first offense, one point will be deducted on the second offense and two points (equivalent to a win) for the third offense. In an unlikely but possible scenario when a team cannot line up to a playing XI as there are less than 12 players available, the BCCI will attempt to reschedule and if that is not possible the match will be considered lost. The teams also face a BCCI investigation in case of repeated violations of the health and safety calls implemented for the event taking place amid the pandemic.

No positive cases have been reported since 13 members of the Chennai team, including two players, failed their COVID tests and recovered after mandatory quarantine.
Earlier, the Chennai team’s chief executive, Kasi Viswanathan, dismissed claims that the KM Asif pacemaker burst the biological bubble to go to the reception area of the team’s hotel in Dubai to find replacement keys for his room. Speaking to ANI, the CEO said that there is a separate area in the lobby that caters to players, and that all personnel working there are being regularly examined to avoid any cases of infection. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than a million lives worldwide since its inception in Wuhan, China.
