DRDO ready with anti-drone system for the armed forces, PM Modi will have a drone killer as part of his security detachment

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has designated Bharat Electronics as the lead agency for the development and production of a much-needed anti-drone system for the military.

It is understood that the anti-drone systems are now part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security equipment at his residence and the laptops will be part of his car parade. This has been made mandatory as there has been a drone threat since early 2020.

With Pakistan-based terrorists using Chinese-made commercial drones to transport payloads of weapons and drugs across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and the international border, the DRDO has been able to successfully develop anti-technology technology. -Passive and active drones to disable or shoot down enemy drones.

It is understood that the head of DRDO, Satheesh Reddy, will write to the Indian armed forces soon to inform them about the production of the indigenous anti-drone system. The anti-drone system, which was implemented during Republic and Independence Day 2020, has a range of more than two to three kilometers with radar capability to detect the drone and then use frequencies to block the unmanned aerial vehicle. . The other option developed includes detecting the drone via radar and then targeting it with a laser beam.

Since 2019, Pakistan-based groups have launched serial drone trips across the IB in Punjab to deliver weapons and drugs to revive militancy in the border state. The same modus operandi is being used at the IB and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Commercially available Chinese drones can carry up to 10 kilograms of weapons and drug payloads.

While the DRDO has developed the system, the Indian private sector together with security agencies have also been able to simultaneously develop an anti-drone system. The system has been tested at LoC and has been able to successfully repel the air threat.
