Dr Reddy’s isolates all data center services after a cyberattack


Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, a leading Indian pharmaceutical company, said today that it has isolated all data center services to take necessary preventive actions in the wake of a cyber attack. The company also added that it anticipates that all services will be active within 24 hours and “we do not anticipate any significant impact on our operations due to this incident.”

Shares of Dr. Reddy’s were down 1.3% versus BSE at noon and were trading at 4,982. At the low of the day, stocks had fallen to 4,832.

“In the wake of a detected cyber attack, we have isolated all data center services to take the necessary preventive actions,” Dr. Reddy’s said in a communication to the exchanges.

Commenting on this development, Mukesh Rathi, CIO, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories said, “We are anticipating that all services will be available within 24 hours and we do not anticipate any significant impact to our operations from this incident.”

Last week, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and the Russian sovereign wealth fund said they had received approval from the General Drug Control of India (DCGI) to conduct a phase 2/3 adaptive human clinical trial for Sputnik V vaccine in India. .

“This will be a multicenter, randomized controlled study, which will include a safety and immunogenicity study,” they said.

In early September 2020, Dr. Reddy’s and RDIF partnered to conduct clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine and its distribution in India. As part of the partnership, RDIF will supply 100 million doses of the vaccine to Dr. Reddy’s following regulatory approval in India.
