Donald Trump and Melania test positive for covid-19

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the first lady, Melania Trump, tested positive for covid-19.

US President Donald Trump said in a tweet that he and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for Covid-19. The president said they will begin “the quarantine and recovery process immediately.” The president was tested after Hope Hicks, one of his closest assistants, also tested positive. Hicks traveled with Trump aboard Air Force One to and from the presidential debate in Cleveland on Tuesday.

Donald Trump tweeted: “Tonight, @ FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through it TOGETHER!

Trump’s positive test comes just hours after the White House announced that Senior Assistant Hope Hicks contracted the virus after traveling with the president several times this week. Trump was last seen by journalists returning to the White House Thursday night and appeared to be in good health. Trump is 74 years old, putting him at higher risk for serious complications from a virus that has now killed more than 200,000 people across the country.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he would begin self-quarantine while awaiting coronavirus test results after Hope Hicks, one of his closest aides, tested positive for Covid-19. Hicks traveled with Trump aboard Air Force One to and from the presidential debate in Cleveland on Tuesday.
