In a recent interview given to CNN-News18, the Minister of Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri, confirmed that domestic flight services will only resume when the arrival and departure cities are in the Green Zone. He also said that it will be difficult to start flight services as the zones continue to change depending on the covid-19 cases.

The government is already in talks with airlines to begin scheduled commercial flight services after closing on May 17. Minister Puri said that each time flight services are resumed, they will be resumed gradually with national airlines operating in the initial phase, followed by international ones. flights.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation previously announced 64 evacuation flights, all carried out by Air India to return the stranded Indians. The largest rescue operation of its time, more than 1.9 Lakh citizens are expected to return to India.

The government is also discussing the rules for social distancing on the flight. Airlines have suggested that vacating a seat to maintain social distance within the flight will increase the price burden on passengers.

The airlines and the Ministry are working to operate without compromising health and safety, and the Ministry has asked the airlines to take other measures so that passengers do not pay this additional charge.

So far, no final decision has been made and PM Modi’s consent will be made once the final plan is ready.
