A doctor who was stabbed two days ago allegedly by her friend succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, police said. Dr. Sona José (30) was stabbed by the accused in her clinic and was being treated at a private hospital in Thrissur.
According to the police, the defendant, who is also her business partner and friend M Mahesh, has on the run since the incident. Three people had been running a dental clinic for the past two years and they soon developed serious differences. Later, Dr. Sona and Dr. Parvathi, her friend, filed a police report Tuesday against Mahesh.
Police said Dr. Sona José was stabbed while the three partners had a conciliatory discussion at the clinic. Family members also filed a complaint against Mahesh saying that he harassed her quite often. Police said Sona was separated from her husband two years ago and that she stayed with Mahesh for a time. But after financial differences arose between them, she had moved out of her apartment.
“We have launched a search for the accused. Preliminary reports suggest that there were financial deals behind the murder, ”said a senior police officer. His relatives said that despite filing a complaint, the police did not take any action. However, the officer said that they had conducted a preliminary investigation and that they planned to summon the accused to the police station.
