NEW DELHI: The Electoral Commission on Monday celebrated that the former Prime Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal NathImarti Devi’s comment on the “article” against the minister of state and BJP candidate for the Dabra assembly had violated his warning.
The survey panel asked on April 29, 2019 “political parties and candidates to refrain from any act / action / statement that could be construed as repugnant to the honor and dignity of women.”
Accordingly, he reported to the senior leader of Congress, whose comment was previously disapproved by the former president of Congress Rahul gandhi as “unfortunate”, do not use “any world or statement during the period of the model code of conduct.”
The EC order came despite Kamal Nath denying any malice or intention to disrespect Imarti Devi in his response to the commission’s notification, in which he cited his track record to assert that in his 40 years of life no allegations of misconduct or misconduct had been made public. temperate comment attached to it.
He also hinted that the comment was made in the heat of the election campaign and drew the EC’s attention to the regret it had expressed the next day.
However, the voting panel did not accept the former prime minister’s request to close the complaint against him and recommended that he not make such statements until the model code remains in force.
The “advice” for Kamal Nath came one day when notices rained down in Madhya Pradesh that he is witnessing 28 electoral assemblies.
The EC notified the senior leader of the BJP, Kailash Vijayvarghiya, for referring to the former chief ministers of Congress. Digvijaya singh and Kamal Nath as “chunnu-munnu” and “gaddar” (traitor) while on their way to a rally in Sanwer, Indore October 14.
He also notified Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma for equating Vijayvargiya with “Raavan” during a speech in Sanwer, Indore, on October 15. Both leaders were instructed to submit their responses within 48 hours of receiving the notification from the EC.
Kamal Nath, in his response previously sent to EC, stated that the Supreme Court had stated many times that in the heat of the elections, many statements were made on the spur of the moment. “In this case, there was no premeditation or design to dishonor or outrage a woman or femininity. It was a warning from the political scene that is full of drama,” he argued.
By stating that there was no malice or intention to disrespect a lady, the former prime minister recalled his previously expressed regret and the clarification given by him the next day to underline that he had no intention of ignoring the EC notice issued in 2019 .
He said that upholding the dignity of women had been the cornerstone of his public life, and that during his decades-long public career, during which he served as a Deputy, Union Minister and Chief Minister, there were no allegations of bad behavior or grumpy comments qua women or no one had ever been attributed to him. Hoping that the EC will appreciate his response in the context of his public record, Kamal Nath said: “The arrogance of the election campaign cannot and should not ignore the individual’s life record.”
