Diganth and Aindrita Ray interrogated in Karnataka by Bengaluru police

Kannada movie stars Diganth, Aindrita Ray questioned in drug scandal

Canarian actors Diganth and Aindrita Ray were questioned at the CCB headquarters in Bengaluru.

Bangalore:

With the drug scandal involving prominent names in the Kannada film industry growing, it was the turn of actor couple Diganth and Aindrita Ray to be investigated by Bengaluru police on Wednesday.

The two actors had been summoned by the investigation team to appear at the headquarters of the Central Crime Division or CCB in the morning and arrived shortly after 11 a.m. to be quickly swallowed up by the jostling of the camera crews.

Diganth and Aindrita are not the first movie stars in Karnataka to be linked to what police believe to be an illegal drug business that involved the acquisition of illegal drugs and their use at parties.

These parties, police have said, were attended by members of the Kannada film industry, among others.

Among those arrested in the case so far are a foreigner believed to have supplied drugs, Loum Pepper Samba, and a party organizer, Viren Khanna.

Actor Ragini Dwivedi was one of the first to be arrested, suspected of being involved in the supply of drugs, and is in judicial custody.

Another actor, Sanjjanaa Galrani, also allegedly involved in the parties, was arrested last week and is in police custody.

On Tuesday, the police searched a property belonging to the family of Aditya Alva, son of the late Karnataka politician Jeevaraj Alva, who believe that parties were held there, and that drugs were available at those parties. Aditya Alva has not yet been detained and his whereabouts are unknown.

Police said they had also arrested another suspected drug dealer in the case, Benald Udenna, who they say supplied drugs to the parties.

Additional Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said Aindrita and Diganth were questioned and will be called back for further investigation at a later date.

The state government says it inherited the drug problem.

Dr Ashwath Narayan, Senior Deputy Minister, said: “When Kumaraswamy was there, the drug threat was not there. When Siddaramaiah was there, the drug threat was not there. In all previous governments, this problem was there. but they weren’t able to address it, even though it was a very important issue. “

HK Patil, the leader of Congress, told NDTV: “Unfortunately, only a few faces are shown. The real people behind this drug trade are not yet exposed. I would like the real culprits to appear. Party, this minister, that Minister, everything should be exposed. “
