Actor Govinda apparently criticized his nephew, comedian Krushna Abhishek, as their enmity escalated over the weekend. Krushna withdrew from an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, which featured his uncle as a guest.
But during one segment, Govinda made a joke about a ‘bhanja (nephew)’, which many fans took as a taunt against Krushna. In the segment, which also features the characters played by Chandan Prabhakar and Sumona Chakravarti, host Kapil Sharma described them as ‘kaamchor’ artists. Chandan, in the character of Chandu, joked with Govinda that he was the one who took Kapil out of Amritsar and into Mumbai, where he started his own show. Govinda joked, “Tujhe kaam de na de tere bhaanje ko zarur dega (give you a job or not, he will definitely hire your nephew).”
Previously, Krushna had said in an interview that he would refuse to participate in the episode, as his enmity with Govinda had affected him greatly. Krushna told Bombay Times: “I found out that Chi Chi mama was coming to the program about 10 days ago. Since Sunita Mami was not with him, the team thought he would have no qualms about acting. However, the incident has left a bad taste in my mouth. Last year, she didn’t want me to perform in front of them, but this time, I had my reservations. “
She added: “I had a strong relationship with Mom and the enmity has affected me greatly. When the relationship between two people is tense, it is difficult to perform a comedy. Also, Mom might be offended by my jokes. Achhi comedy ke liye set ka mahaul achha hona chahiye (good comedy needs an enabling environment). I can attest that it would have been like a burning house even if I had acted like Krushna and not like Sapna (the character she plays on the show) with Mom. I could have paid tribute to him on the show. “

The reason for the fight in the family is reportedly a tweet from Krushna’s wife, Kashmera Shah, who had made a comment last year about “people who dance for money.” This had not gone well for Govinda’s wife, who felt that she was destined for Govinda. Krushna later clarified that it was meant for his sister Arti Singh, but nothing could change Sunita’s position.
