“CSK at the bottom of the scoreboard. Trust you in 2020 to show you things you never imagined.”

Winless Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded their first win in the ongoing 2020 IPL season after the team showed a full effort against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.

A sublime fifty from starter Jonny Bairstow (53 of 48) and practical innings from David Warner (45 of 33) and Kane Williamson (41 of 26) helped SRH post a competitive 162/4 total in his 20 designated overs.

Defending the total, SRH’s Rashid Khan cast a stellar bowling spell, ripping off 3 of his four overs while giving away just 14 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, on the other hand, came back with two wickets and despite promising starts from Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals fell 15 runs short of the target. This was DC’s first loss in the tournament.

SRH, who was placed at the bottom of the table before the game, moved up a couple of places, sending the Chennai Super Kings to eighth place.

Seeing the current IPL ranking, cricket fans were misled.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s CSK, the team that is considered the best player each time it enters a season and has lifted the trophy three times, fell to eighth after Tuesday’s game. This led to a Twitter meme party.

It should be noted that the 2020 IPL is only in its early stages and given the nature of the sport, the ranking is bound to change with each scheduled match from now on.

Meanwhile, playing his first game of the season after recovering from injury, Williamson’s return was celebrated on social media. The New Zealander did not disappoint with the bat either, scoring a quick 41 (26).
