Determined to defeat BJP who cheated on us, he will support Mamata: GJM’s Roshan Giri

With West Bengal’s assembly elections scheduled for next year, Roshan Giri of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) faction said on Sunday that they will back Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who said that unlike the faction’s longtime ally , the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “keeps her promises”.

Giri, general secretary of the faction headed by Bimal Gurung, alleged that the BJP deceived his faction and did not keep any of its promises during their association from 2009 to 2020. “We have decided to defeat the BJP who deceived us. They did not meet any of our demands from 2009 to 2020. We will support Mamata Banerjee in North Bengal. We want to see it as the third CM. She keeps her promises, ”the ANI news agency quoted Giri, general secretary of the faction headed by Bimal Gurung, as saying.

During a rally in the Darjeeling region, Giri said that the BJP governments had assured the Gorkhas before three successive Lok Sabha elections that the political crisis in the hills would be resolved, but nothing was done. “They don’t really have the political will to find a permanent political solution. Why does the Center make three-way talks a prerequisite when it comes to the Gorkhas? The creation of Telangana, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand did not require tripartite talks, ”Giri said. The Gorkhas lost 15 years to the BJP, he added.

The GJM led by Gorkha’s fugitive leader Bimal Gurung resigned from the NDA in October and aligned itself with TMC, saying the BJP had not “managed to find a permanent solution” for the Hills, which had witnessed great unrest. by the lawsuit of a separate state in 2017.

Giri also clarified that the GJM will not give up its demand for Gorkhaland and will extend its support for that party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which will support its demand for a separate state.

He also ruled out any reconciliation with the Binoy Tamang faction, claiming that the chairman of the Gorkhaland territorial administration, Anit Thapa, and the GJM leader, Binoy Tamang, are not based in the hills. Giri accused them of being involved in financial crimes.
