Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said on Sunday that preventing Rahul Gandhi from assuming the leadership of Congress will lead to the “extinction” of the big party.
In his weekly column Rokhthok in the Sena Saamana spokesman, Raut also said that Congress lacks a leader who can take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi with all his might.
Referring to the letter from 23 congressional leaders to Sonia Gandhi about having a “full-time” leadership that is active in the field and “visible” in party offices, Raut wondered who is preventing these leaders from being active.
“Activity to stop Rahul Gandhi will be instrumental in destroying the party and leading to its demise,” Raut said.
Having a non-Gandhi as president of Congress is a good idea, but none of those 23 have that ability, said Raut, whose party, along with Congress and the NCP, is a component of the ruling alliance in Maharashtra.
Referring to the regional parties presented by former Congress leaders, Raut said: “Congress still exists throughout India, but with different masks. If these masks are thrown away, it can emerge as a prominent political party. “
He said the late congressional veteran VN Gadgil described Congress as an old woman who will never die. ” Rahul Gandhi has to decide what to do with the old woman, ”Raut added.
