Delivery man runs away with 14 units of iPhone 12 Pro Max worth Rs 18 lakh: what happened next?

The recently released iPhone 12 Pro Max is arguably one of the hottest pieces of tech right now, so it’s no surprise to hear that a delivery man got away with some units. According to a report by MyDrivers, a delivery man in China took off with 14 iPhone 12 Pro Max units worth 160,000 yuan (approximately 18 lakh rupees). The units were destined for an authorized Apple reseller in Guizhou, China. After canceling his job and paying the fine, the delivery man did not return the iPhone 12 Pro Max smartphones to the store.

Of the 14 iPhone Pro Max units, the delivery man kept one for personal use, a move that ultimately spelled his downfall. Another unit was given to a friend as a form of debt payment. A third iPhone 12 Pro Max arrived at a pawn shop, where he went to look for 9,500 yuan (approximately 1.07,000 rupees). Another unit was sold to a mobile phone dealer for a disposable price of 7,000 yuan (approximately 79,000 rupees). The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a starting price of around 9,299 yuan (roughly Rs 1.05,000) in China.

Authorities eventually managed to track down the delivery man and recover the remaining ten units of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The Apple Store has now blacklisted the delivery man, who will most likely also face a prison sentence for his actions. Unsurprisingly, he claimed that he did all of this to finance his opulent lifestyle.
