“The Directorate of Education (DoE) was ordered to extend the current closure of schools until October 31. Tomorrow the DoE will issue formal orders to that effect,” said an official from the vice minister’s office.
Senior Vice Minister Manish Sisodia also has the education portfolio.
Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16 when the Center announced the closure of classrooms across the country as part of measures to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.
On March 25, the central government announced a national shutdown to prevent the spread of the virus.
According to the latest unlocking guidelines, schools, universities, and other educational institutions can reopen outside of the containment zones after October 15. However, the decision to reopen educational institutions was left to the states and territories of the union.
