Delhi Police Try To Stop Recklessly Driven Car That Was Dragged By The Hood

A Delhi traffic police officer, who tried to stop a hastily driven car, was dragged on the hood of the vehicle for nearly half a kilometer in the southwest Delhi Cantonment area, authorities said Thursday.

The incident took place on Monday night near Dhaula Kuan.

The sheriff tried to stop the vehicle that had a fancy license plate and was being driven hastily, they said.

Officer Mahipal Yadav stopped the vehicle to search it and when the driver tried to flee, he jumped on the hood of the car, police said.

Video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video, Yadav is seen on the hood of a white Hyundai i20 car, driving in a zigzag, after which the sheriff fell to the ground.

The driver tried to flee the scene, but was later stopped by people and other policemen. Yadav suffered some injuries, police said.

The accused has been identified as Shubham, a resident of Uttam Nagar.

A case has been registered in the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against Shubham, said a senior police officer.
