Delhi plans to impose lockdown on potential Covid-19 hotspot markets


Amid the increase in Covid-19 cases in the national capital, Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal is considering closing the markets if there is a massive violation of Covid-19 security regulations. Addressing a press conference today, CM Kejriwal said that his government will send a proposal in this regard to the Center.

“He will send a proposal to the central government to obtain permission to close markets that have the potential to become hotspots for Covid-19,” the prime minister said.

The Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal sent a proposal to Delhi’s Deputy Governor Anil Baijal to reverse his decision to allow the gathering of 200 people in marriage ceremonies and restricted the number to 50 now.

Kejriwal said that the Delhi government, the Center and all agencies are making “double efforts” to control the COVID-19 situation in the national capital.

“I appeal to the people of Delhi with folded hands to wear masks and follow the rules of social distancing,” said CM Kejriwal.

With Delhi witnessing a further increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Center on Sunday announced a series of steps, including making an additional 300 ICU beds available, doubling the number of daily PCR tests and a household survey. by house in the national capital.

The announcement came after an emergency meeting attended by Shah and Kejriwal.

The Interior Minister emphasized that the entire set of containment measures instituted previously must be continuously reviewed, so that there are no gaps in implementation.
