Delhi overtakes Maharashtra and Kerala as largest contributor to new Covid cases: Center


The Union Ministry of Health said on Monday that 79 percent of the 45,903 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) registered in the last 24 hours come from 10 states and territories of the Union (UT).

He added that Delhi has overtaken Maharashtra and Kerala by recording 7,745 cases in a single day to become the largest contributor to the country’s daily Covid-19 count. The national capital had also overtaken Maharashtra and Kerala on November 7.

Other states that continue to be hit hardest by the pandemic are West Bengal, Karnataka, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

For several days, Delhi has been seeing a record increase in the number of reported coronaviruses in a 24-hour span and is witnessing a third wave of the outbreak.

State Health Minister Satyendar Jain, while speaking to the ANI news agency, said: “Covid-19 cases are at their peak now and experts say it can last 4-5 days. Delhi’s overall death rate is 1.59%. Many people do not wear masks. Most of the cases are working class. We have increased 110 ICU beds in public hospitals “.

The National Green Court (NGT) on Monday announced a total ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in Delhi from midnight Monday to November 30. The explosion of firecrackers increases air pollution levels, further increasing the spread of the Covid-19 disease. .

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Health noted that single-day recoveries in the country on Monday continued to be greater than the new cases added.

So far, nearly eight million people have recovered from the coronavirus and the recovery rate is 92.56%.

Maharashtra and Kerala, in addition to adding the highest number of daily cases, are also seeing the maximum number of recoveries in a single day, the ministry added.
