NEW DELHI: The Delhi government, which has been put on alert in the wake of a new variant of the spread of the coronavirus in the UK, is keeping an eye on the developing situation as many travelers from the UK arrive in the capital. The Delhi government appealed to those who have recently come from the UK to have their health checked and tested for the slightest symptom similar to Covid-19 and to report to the government. Tests are already underway at the airport.
India on Monday suspended flights to and from the UK between December 23 and December 31, but those who arrive earlier and test negative will be asked to go into self-isolation and those who test negative but have symptoms in institutional isolation.
“The Delhi government is on alert for the mutated strain of coronavirus in the UK. The situation is being closely monitored and mandatory tests are underway at the airport. Anyone testing negative but with symptoms will be kept in institutional isolation and those who test negative will also be asked to go into self-isolation for seven days, “said Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
The minister added that every effort will be made to ensure that the improvement made in the management of Covid is not reversed.
