Lucknow: On Tuesday, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration decided to seal the Delhi-Noida border as a precautionary measure to stem the spread of COVID-19. The announcement came hours after Ghaziabad also closed its border with Delhi on closure orders.
However, certain services may continue to travel across the border. Health workers and essential services personnel with valid passes issued by government authorities may travel.
Media personnel will also be permitted to possess specific passes issued by the District Information Officer or the Additional Police Superintendent of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Other exceptions include ambulances, small and heavy vehicles carrying basic goods, central government officials with passes issued by the Interior Ministry (MHA), and doctors and health workers employed in hospitals and emergency services in the district.
Newly appointed Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Suhas LY said Tuesday in a tweet: “Dear residents, according to the advice of the medical department, in the general public interest, as a precautionary measure to fight COVID-19, we are closing completely the Delhi-GB Nagar / Noida broder, with the following specified exceptions. ”
He attached a copy of the order stating the reasons for sealing the edge along with the exceptions.
He said that the medical authorities report clearly mentions that people traveling between GB Nagar and Delhi are vulnerable to COVID-19. “Therefore, GB Nagar’s border with Delhi is sealed until further notice,” he said.
The order added that only essential services and health workers who would carry a valid pass issued by the authorities were allowed by the police at the border. The GB Nagar administration made it clear that special electronic passes will be issued for other people who want to pass with a valid reason.
So far, 102 cases from the GB Nagar district have been reported, and the most of them are related to a particular company. A FIR was filed against the company and its office sealed by district authorities.
As many as 153 new coronavirus cases, including 65 from Agra and 33 from Rae Bareli, were reported Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh, bringing the total count of such cases in the state to 1,337 of 53 districts, its health department said. Three COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, bringing the number of deaths to 21 in the state.
The count of active cases in the state is 1,154 as of now.
