Delhi metro services will resume from September 7 in 3 stages: here are routes, schedules


New Delhi: The head of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Mangu Singh, said that the yellow line from Samaypur Badli to Huda city center will be operational from September 7 and that services on the Airport Express line will resume at as of September 12, after a five-month shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The gradual resumption of metro services would be done in line with specific schedules in three stages, he said in the presence of the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri.

He said that in the first stage, the Delhi Metro services will operate in two shifts: from 7 to 11 am and from 4 to 8 pm.

“In phase 1, on September 7, we are planning to start the yellow line from Samaypur Badli to Huda city center. In phase 2, on September 9, we will start three more lines, Blue Line, Pink Line and Gurgaon Line, “Singh said. .

In the second stage, trains will be available from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., he said, adding that normal operation will resume from September 12.

“In phase 3, on September 10, after observing the operation and its impact, we will present the Red Line (from Ghaziabad to Rithala), the Bahadurgarh Line and the Faridabad Line,” the head of the DMRC further said.

Only smart card and cashless transactions will be allowed.

Puri said that it will be necessary to review the opening of metro rail services in a graded and calibrated manner.

“If we find that the resumption of operations is not resulting in social distancing, then we may have no choice but to review these arrangements,” he said.
