Delhi Metro expects to resume services soon; DMRC asks all employees to work

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is expected to start its metro rail services from 1 June. The Delhi Metro has not been in operation since the coronavirus-induced national lockout began on March 25.

Previously, we reported that the metro train services will resume during block 4.0, which began on 4 May. However, the Centre did not give its approval to the same.

The DMRC has reportedly asked all its employees to duty today. A DMRC employee speaking on condition of anonymity, said The Times of India the Delhi Metro management has asked its 14,000 strong workforce has asked for a report on the duty, May 26.

“We were already waiting and were reporting for service in a rotation system. Now, a comprehensive information on how we operate the change of circumstances, is expected to take place,” DMRC said in the daily leader.

Commenting on the reports of the resumption of underground rail services, Delhi, the Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot said, “There is no confirmation, however, on the resumption of Delhi Metro rail services. Provided that such address is, DMRC is required a minimum of two days for the preparations.”
Delhi government wants the metro train services should be started again soon, Gahlot, was quoted by ANA as saying.

Reports suggest that only government employees and people connected with the essential services can avail of Delhi Metro services as suggested by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government.

The DMRC has planned to ensure strict social distancing measures, and will track the passengers through the CCTV installed on the train. The passenger must maintain a distance of 1 meter, while riding the subway.

According to reports, alternate seating must be vacated by travellers. Passengers will not have to go through the physical pat-down during security check-up. The Delhi Metro is expected to allow only the 50-passenger coach.

The metro, passengers will have to wear masks, are subjected to the thermal detection and have the Aarogya respective eras application on their mobile phones.
