NEW DELHI: The Delhi-Meerut Highway it has finally been open to the public as of Thursday. It will cut travel time between the two cities from three hours to just 45 minutes.
It has been declared operational since Thursday by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who said the government has kept one of its promises by reducing travel time from Delhi to Meerut.

On the highway, the speed limit for cars has been set at 100 km / hour. Freight vehicles can also circulate at a maximum speed of 80 km per hour. Traffic jam and pollution problems are also likely to end.
Construction work on the Delhi-Meerut highway has been completed at a total cost of 8,346 crore rupees. Within the framework of the project, a total of 82 km of works have been completed on the route, of which the total length of the highway is 60 km and the length of the national highway is 22 km.
In the framework of the project, a total of 24 small and large bridges and 10 flyovers have been built. Arrangements have been made to illuminate the highway: more than 4,500 lamps have been installed. Cameras have also been placed for security reasons.
The highway has been developed as a smart highway. There are several gateways on the route while traveling from Delhi: Sarai Kale Khan, Akshardham Temple, Indirapuram, Dasna, Bhojpur and Meerut.
