Delhi Mango Seller “Overwhelmed” as Help Poured in After the Loot

New Delhi: It had been three long days of despair to the fruit seller of Phool Mia who lost mangoes worth Rs 30,000 when a crowd looted his position in Delhi. But now, Mian aka Chhote is stunned and overwhelmed. Thanks to the people who helped raise funds for him and helped him to overcome the loss in time of crisis.

“That had to steal, he did. But I’m excited that so many people have helped me,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Shortly after his story came out, the people in the social media, began to search for her and contact information of the bank and has contributed all they could to help him. From Rs 100 to a few thousands, of people contributed whatever they could

to help Chhote to overcome the loss.

It was only on the morning of the Saturday that he came to know about the response that her story had evoked and was taken by surprise when he discovered that he had received more than enough to compensate for the loss that he had incurred at the time of theft.

“Ab jaake jaan mein jaan aai hai (it Is like I have my life back). I’m going to finally get to celebrate Eid, take care of my children,” the 43-year-old fruit vendor was quoted as saying.

In the video, bystanders can be seen pushing each other to pick up mangoes of unattended boxes. Some of them filled with their helmets and bags with handles, while others fled with six to seven mangos in their hands.

The incident took place after a heated discussion between a seller of fruit and some rickshaw-pullers on the morning of Thursday. Chhote said that he was standing under a tree, when a group of rickshaw pullers asked him to leave.

Meanwhile, the police has arrested four people in connection with the loot based on CCTV footage.
