New Delhi:
Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain said today that 51 cases of minor complications have been reported from the coronavirus vaccine that was rolled out across the country yesterday. There was a severe case, where the patient was admitted to the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences.
Yesterday there were 51 minor incidents where there were some minor complications and 1 was a bit serious. The severe case was admitted to AIIMS. Until last night he was admitted there, “Jain quoted the ANI news agency as saying.
“Only one case in Delhi had to be admitted to hospital, the remaining 51 did not have to be hospitalized. They were only observed for a short time,” the minister said.
The patient admitted to AIIMS is a 22-year-old security guard who works at the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit until last night and is now stable.
More than 4,000 health workers were vaccinated in Delhi on the first day. Except for the hospitals run by the center, such as the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, all received Covishield, which is developed by the University of Oxford with major pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and manufactured by the Serum Institute.
All six central hospitals received Covaxin from Bharat Biotech, which is still in the testing stage. The country’s drug regulator, although it authorized the vaccine, said that the use of the vaccine will be in clinical trial mode, which means that all its recipients will be tracked and monitored as if they were in testing.
The WHO defines AEFI or Adverse Events after Vaccination as any adverse medical event that follows vaccination and does not necessarily have a causal relationship with the use of the vaccine.
Delhi had a goal of vaccinating 8,117 healthcare workers on the first day, but only half of the number were vaccinated at the 81 sites that operated across the city.
